On Saturday, July 20th we will be hosting an outdoor viewing of Apollo 11 on Dunn field, located behind St. Columbkille Church. This event will mark the 50th Anniversary celebration of the the moon landing, so bring a lawn chair, blanket and some water, pop or juice of your choice. We will be providing the popcorn. We will be showing some behind the scenes footage starting at 8:30 PM and will have the opportunity for young boys and their parents to learn how they can join Pack or Troop 13. The actual film will begin right at 9:00 PM. The film offers a front-row seat to the mission that put Americans on the moon. "Apollo 11" shows each step of the historic mission using original audio and video footage. We see the trio of astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, suiting up, preparing for their historic flight, and entering the van that will carry them to the launchpad. The hike will start at the Dubuque Heritage trail near the parking lot by Heritage Pond. Our model won't be this big, but we are planning to launch a 4ft. Saturn V model on Saturday, July 20th at 3:00 PM. You can join us in watching the launch at the field next to the Bergfeld Recreational Trail (We will first meet at the Parking Lot just off of Pennsylvania Ave/Middle Road). We will have a few others to launch as well.
